The Community Services Grant Program (The "ROOTS") is a partnership between the Governor’s Office for Children, Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, and Family League
of Baltimore City that provides access to State funding for small, grassroots providers who serve Baltimore City youth, ages 8-18. The providers in the ROOTS network offer activities that youth actually choose to participate innot the more traditional counseling and mental health services that
youth are frequently required to attend. Available services and activities outlined in this Directory
include creative and fine arts, sports and fitness, hobby and recreational activities; informal after school, employment development, entrepreneurial, leadership development, mentoring activities, etc.
These providers are dedicated to the provision of services in environments that are nurturing, safe and easily accessible. They are also encouraged to prioritize the enrollment of youth who are involved with and /or referred by the Department of Juvenile Services. Providers can be contacted directly through information contained in the directory for referrals and further details about their program.
